Congratulations!!! You are having a baby! Welcoming your new little bundle of joy will be the most exciting, rewarding, and emotional experiences of your life. Those first few crazy days go by in a haze. So many changes happen within a matter of a few days! Their tiny little features change so quickly, it wont be long before they are up and running, and you will long for those sleepy little days! As a newborn photographer, its so rewarding and humbling to be welcomed into the lives of my clients! I love being able to work with such sweet and innocent little ones. The way their sleepy little bodies curl up and their little fingers and toes wiggle into place is so amazing. If we can catch a sleepy little giggle or yawn, that is the BEST!
So, here are a few things you should know about your newborn session 😊
Where will you travel? Belly-Birth-Baby Photography is a Bozeman Montana based company, providing Newborn Photography to the Gallatin Valley Area. Being a Montana native, I anticipate that travel is a necessary part of life, and therefore am available to do your newborn photographs anywhere within 200 miles of Bozeman Montana! Travel greater than 25 miles from Bozeman, MT will require an additional fee of $0.56/ mile. Most sessions and packages also include an "in studio" option, as well as an "on location" option, so the location of your shoot is not limited to your home or home town!
When should I book my shoot? You are welcome to contact me to book your newborn photography session as soon as you are comfortable. We will schedule an approximate date based on your due date, with the understanding that it may need to be altered based on your babies actual arrival date. You can then contact me as soon as your little bundle has arrived and we can confirm your session date!
When will we do the shoot? The absolute best time to do your newborn photography shoot is between 5-10 after birth. At this time, they are quite sleepy, yet have had a little time to get used to being out in this new world! We really want to be able to capture those tiny little newborn features!
Will we meet before my shoot? Yes!!! I would love to get together with you and discuss your ideas for your newborn shoot. I always recommend that you do some internet surfing to find things that inspire you. Keep in mind where you envision displaying your photographs so that we can make sure to have some options which will "fit" in with your style. If you desire, please feel free to check out my facebook, pinterest, twitter, and/or linkedin p , , ages for inspiration as well! If you find something that you'd like to try, or would like a photo to fit in with a particular theme, I am very open to suggestions!
What should I bring? You are welcome to bring any outfits, props, blankets etc. that you might like to use! However; I have props, blankets, and special accessories as well! So, you are basically welcome to bring everything or nothing!! I keep diapers, wipes, soothie passi's, swaddles, etc. on hand which you are welcome to use and keep ( I do not re-use any of the previously mentioned items)! The most important thing is that you and your baby are comfortable. All blankets and other props are cleaned before each shoot using all natural cleaning products from the Honest Company.
What Should I expect? As I mentioned before, I have blankets, props, accessories, and anything you might need to keep baby comfortable! In studio, I keep the temperature at roughly 77 degrees! I do this because baby has a hard time regulating his/her own body temperature, and will likely spend a majority of the session naked or semi-naked! I will also have refreshements for mom and dad, as well as some light reading material. I may need to use a heat source if baby is particularly cold bodied, and will have white noise on to soothe him/her off to a sweet sweet slumber! If often times takes several wake/feed/sleep transitions to complete the entire session which is why I schedule 4 hours for each shoot! Please don't feel offended if I offer to get baby to sleep, when baby is so small, the smell of mommy or daddy can be enough to make them want to stay awake! Strangers have nothing yummy to offer! 😉
